One system runs a community kitchen — from a member's order to a tiffin at their door
Members, dawat bookings, recipes, batches, stock, thali subscriptions and the daily delivery round — the whole thali operation in one place, on a Hijri calendar.
Running a community thali kitchen on paper and spreadsheets falls apart as the numbers grow.
Daily counts, who is subscribed, what to cook, what to buy, how much stock is left, and which house gets which tiffin — all tracked across notebooks, WhatsApp groups and a dozen spreadsheets that never quite agree.
A miscount means food wasted or a member left without a thali. Stock quietly disappears with no audit trail, purchase costs drift, and the volunteer team loses hours re-keying the same lists every single day.
Every order flows through one system — which quietly deducts the stock, prints the pick list and plans the delivery round.
A bespoke ERP built in vanilla PHP (a custom MVC) on MySQL, with a Hijri calendar throughout and role-based access for the kitchen, the office and the delivery team.
Our Approach
Register members & bookings
A member register and dawat bookings capture the day's numbers, with zabihat and salawat tracked alongside.
Plan the menu & lists
The weekly menu and listmaker plan what's cooking and generate the day's cooking lists straight from the count.
Run the kitchen on stock
Recipes, batches and meal plans produce pick lists that deduct inventory FIFO, backed by lot tracking, reorder alerts and a purchase-order workflow with suppliers.
Deliver & report
Thali subscriptions route deliveries and pickups, while departments, a task pool, takhmeen and year-on-year reports keep the whole operation auditable.
From recipe to stock deduction, automatically
Scale a standardised recipe to the day's thali count, generate the kitchen's pick list, and as each ingredient is picked the system deducts it from stock — oldest lot first (FIFO), with the cost captured for the day's batch.
Who gets a thali — and where it goes
Every subscriber is on the register with their sector, size and delivery preference. Each day that becomes a drop-off round the delivery team ticks off stop by stop, so nothing — and no one — is missed.
From a daily order to a doorstep — the whole kitchen runs from one set of numbers.
Now the daily count, the shopping list and the delivery round all come from the same numbers.
